Safety is considered a basic human right and the responsibility of all. It’s an important issue for families, senior citizens and our youth – and one of the primary concerns of your representatives on City Council.
Everyone has a role to play in making our community safer. Make plans now to join us on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Northern Shores Elementary School, 6701 Respass Beach Road, in the cafetorium for a PUBLIC SAFETY FORUM.
The Suffolk City Council will be presenting this event to educate our citizens about law enforcement successes, as well as to introduce the newly formed N.E.T. (Neighborhood Enforcement Team) serving Northern Suffolk. Attendees will also learn about the prevention of gang violence, the formation of community watches, and how to get involved in Suffolk’s nationally ranked “National Night Out” police-community partnership activities taking place this year (www.suffolk.nno.org).
Public safety is critical to our growth and well-being as a city. It’s been said that ‘Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community”. Your attendance at this event is just one of the many ways to show that you care and that you can make a difference in your community.
